Invisalign

Invisalign straightens your teeth with a series of clear, virtually invisible custom-molded aligners. Because these aligners are clear you can keep your active lifestyle during treatment. An average Invisalign course of treatment takes about a year. For additional information visit invisalign.com. Invisalign is an alternative to wearing brackets and wires.

Invisalign

What is the procedure?

  • Your dentist or orthodontist examines your teeth and discusses your goals.
  • They determine if Invisalign is suitable for you.
  • Digital scans, X-rays, and photos may be taken to create a 3D model of your teeth.
  • Using the 3D model, a series of aligners is designed to gradually move your teeth into place.
  • You’ll see a virtual preview of your expected results.
  • Treatment time varies, but most people wear Invisalign for 6-18 months.
  • Once the aligners are ready, your dentist provides the first set and ensures they fit properly.
  • You’ll receive instructions on wearing and caring for them.
  • Aligners must be worn 20-22 hours per day—only removed for eating, drinking (except water), brushing, and flossing.
  • You switch to a new set of aligners every 1-2 weeks to gradually shift your teeth.
  • Some cases require attachments (small tooth-colored bumps) to help with movement.
  • You’ll have check-ins every 4-6 weeks to monitor progress and receive new aligners.
  • Adjustments may be made if needed.
  • Once treatment is finished, you’ll receive retainers (like Invisalign but more rigid) to maintain results.
  • Retainers must be worn regularly, typically full-time at first, then only at night.

Some discomfort or tightness is common when switching to a new aligner, but it’s usually mild and temporary.
