Root Canal

The space inside the tooth from the center, known as the pulp chamber, that travels down the length of the root to the tip is called a “canal”. Human teeth may have one to four root canals, depending on the anatomy of the tooth.

**Root Canals are referred to an Endodontist Specialist for root canal treatments.

Root Canal

What is the procedure?

  • Local anesthesia is applied to prevent pain.
  • A dental dam isolates the tooth to keep it dry and clean.
  • The dentist drills a small access hole in the tooth.
  • Infected pulp and bacteria are removed from the root canals.
  • The canals are thoroughly cleaned, shaped, and disinfected.
  • They are then filled with a biocompatible material (gutta-percha) to prevent reinfection.
  • A temporary filling is placed until a permanent crown or filling is added.
  • In most cases, a dental crown is recommended for strength and durability.

1-2 visits (60-90 minutes each) depending on the severity of infection.

No! Modern anesthesia and techniques make root canals virtually painless—similar to getting a filling. Any post-treatment discomfort is mild and manageable.

✅ Brush & floss regularly to maintain oral health.
✅ Avoid chewing hard foods on the treated tooth until fully restored.
✅ Get a crown if recommended to protect the tooth from fracture.
✅ Visit your dentist for regular checkups to ensure long-term success.
